Find Your Part # →Start with the helmet, not the tear-off. Dirt racing tear-offs are not universal. The correct part number depends on the helmet brand, shield style, mounting tabs, shield size, and shield shape. A tear-off that is close but not correct can miss the posts, pull poorly, or sit wrong on the shield.

For dirt late models, modifieds, sprint cars, stock cars, and weekly circle track racing, the number of tear-offs depends on track moisture, traffic, starting position, and how much mud or rubber is hitting the shield. NVX packages include 3 x 10-layer stacks, giving racers 30 total tear-offs per package.
Clean the shield before installing tear-offs. Line the tear-off holes up with the shield posts, keep the stack flat, and make sure each pull tab is positioned where the driver can grab it. Test the first pull before race time so the stack releases cleanly.
A laminated stack keeps multiple tear-off layers organized as a single race-night system. That helps reduce loose layers, makes the stack easier to stage on the shield, and gives the driver repeatable pulls when dirt, mud, rubber, and dust start covering the visor.
